New LEIALTA B2B report: growing without losing control

Download LEIALTA’s 2026 B2B report on companies operating in Spain, with insights on costs, regulation, structure and growth.

In an increasingly demanding business environment, growth no longer means simply selling more. For many companies, the real challenge is to grow without losing margins, internal control or management capacity.

This is one of the main conclusions of “Growing without losing control”, a report prepared by LEIALTA based on its annual B2B client survey among companies operating in Spain. The report brings together the concerns, challenges and priorities shaping business management today, with a particular focus on administrative burden, labour costs, regulatory changes, profitability and the need to strengthen internal structure.

Administrative burden: an invisible cost for companies

One of the most relevant findings of the report is that 76% of the companies surveyed acknowledge spending too much time on administrative and management tasks.

This burden is not always directly reflected in the profit and loss account. However, it consumes management time, slows down processes and reduces the ability of teams to focus on strategic, commercial or growth-related decisions.

The report therefore points to an increasingly common reality. Many companies do not have a problem with ambition. They have a problem with time, structure and the capacity to manage everything that growth involves.

Labour costs, regulation and lack of structure: three major areas of concern

Among the main concerns identified in the report, labour costs stand out, mentioned by 43% of the companies surveyed. Regulatory changes were mentioned by 39%, while lack of time or internal structure was also mentioned by 39%.

Other concerns also appear, including growth and sales, profitability and margins, tax burden, staff management and financing.

The broader reading is clear: companies want to grow, but they are increasingly aware that growth requires more planning, stronger cost control, greater anticipation and an internal structure capable of supporting that progress.

Growth is becoming more expensive, and management is becoming more complex

The report also shows that 62% of the companies surveyed say they have experienced an increase in costs over the past year. Their responses point to areas such as staff, suppliers, raw materials, energy, taxes and the investments required to sustain business activity.

In this context, labour costs are no longer perceived only as a salary issue. Companies also link them to hiring, turnover, training, productivity, potential absenteeism and their real ability to keep growing.

In addition, more than half of the companies surveyed believe that complying with tax, labour and legal obligations is more complex today than it was a few years ago. Adapting to new regulatory and administrative requirements is turning compliance into an increasingly strategic issue.

Business growth requires greater anticipation

For LEIALTA, the report highlights a shift in the business agenda: growth no longer depends only on selling more, but on managing better.

Companies need to anticipate regulatory changes, review costs and margins more frequently, professionalise internal processes, free up management time and rely on useful information to make better decisions.

In this sense, the report presents a central idea: in a more demanding environment, anticipation is no longer just a competitive advantage. It is becoming a necessity.

Methodological note: This report brings together the conclusions of a survey conducted by LEIALTA among more than 30 B2B client companies operating in Spain. Although the sample is not intended to be statistically representative of the business sector, the value of the analysis lies in the qualitative depth of the responses and in the identification of shared patterns among companies from different sectors, sizes and stages of growth.
